The true spirit of Christmas

So, we had a real lesson today in the real meaning of Christmas.

The guy we found drilling the lock on our back door when we got back from our family thing helped us put in new locks.

He turned out to be really friendly, and we talked a bit about carbide-tipped drills, and cordless drills, and how locks really work. Lots of fun. One of our cats nearly got out, but I caught the little guy by the tail. (Considering how cold it is out, I think on the whole he’s better off with a pulled tail than he would be outside.)

Merry Christmas, everybody.

(And no, he wasn’t a locksmith. That’d be wayyyy too mundane.)

So…the guy was trying to break into your house?

Oooohkay, then. I guess I must be invisible and inaudible, then.

Sorry, I’ve been ignoring everything during holiday break. The one time a year I do almost no work, and just play games and hang out with friends, is Dec 26-31. And I tend not to monitor my blog much.

Anyway, it was my brother-in-law. We’d stupidly locked ourselves out, so he came over with a power drill, because he’s mechanically inclined, and was able to get us in. Then, being mechanically inclined, he helped us figure out the spare lock, too. We’d bought a knob-and-deadbolt kit maybe five years back and never gotten around to installing it.

Ah, okay…good to hear that it wasn’t someone trying to ransack your place.
