Net - More Net, Less Spam! X-Old-complaints-to: admin@plethora.net Newsgroups: comp.lang.c.moderated,comp.lang.basic.visual.misc Originator: clcm@plethora.net (Comp Lang C'Moderated) In an effort to serve a broader audience, comp.lang.c.moderated will henceforth focus on Visual Basic programming issues and language questions. Over the last decade, the C language has essentially stagnated. It remains relegated to a role in operating systems, embedded systems, education, large software projects, network software, and other "niche" markets, while Visual Basic has expanded to fill almost the entire arena of GUI-based programs which access a database on Windows systems. Furthermore, VB's imminent availability on Unix, Mac, and Be platforms indicates that the language is really reaching maturity, with a level of cross-platform availability C can only dream of. Additionally, with Stroustrup's exciting work on VB++, it seems clear that VB will be an object-oriented language in the near future. With that in mind, discussion of VBFRONT~1.EXE will be considered topical too. I really look forward to continuing to provide the moderation services for this group, moving forward, as we continue. We hope to maintain the same high standards of dialogue in clcm's "new" focus as we have in the old focus. There will be a few other minor changes. To better serve our new membership, "spam" advertising penis enlargement devices will no longer be bounced as off-topic. The moderation software (which is currently running on a Unix system) will be moved to a Windows machine. However, thanks to a crack team of system administrators, we hope to keep downtime under 10%. Thank you for your time and consideration. Please be understanding if new posts aren't approved until the 2nd. -s -- April Fools 2000, All rights reserved.
